Homes for Heroes mission has always been to Thank Every Hero in the Nation. After the tragedy of 9/11, Founder and CEO Ruth Johnson wanted a way to give back to our nation’s heroes for all they do for our community and country. So, Ruth sold her brokerage and started Homes for Heroes.
Over the last 20 years, we have grown from humble roots in Minnesota to real estate agents and loan specialists in all 50 states. Homes for Heroes is the largest nationwide network of affiliate real estate, mortgage, and local business specialists; committed to providing easy ways for heroes to save on a home.
We’ve been able to serve active and veteran members in all branches of the military, volunteer firefighters to NYPD officers, rural teachers to pandemic-fighting healthcare workers, and all types of heroes in between.
Starting our 20th year, we are close to achieving significant gains with this mission. In the next year Homes for Heroes will hit these significant milestones:
- One million dollars given back to heroes in need of housing assistance through our Homes for Heroes Foundation
- Help 50,000 heroes buy, sell, or refinance their homes
- Given back 100 million dollars to our nation’s heroes in Hero Rewards®
- Celebrate 20 years serving heroes
Our purpose since day one has always been to serve heroes. To commemorate these company milestones, we are launching our anniversary theme: 20 Years of Service with Purpose.
As a company, this means we will continue to provide excellent housing resources and rewards to our heroes. Service with purpose means we don’t just show up to our job, but we show up for you.
What this means for our heroes is that we are still as committed to serving you as we were on our first day of business. But, we have learned from our experience the past two decades and are better able to assist you in your home buying, selling, or refinance journey.
If you don’t already, consider following us in our celebrations this coming year.
We have big things coming. We’re grateful to not only be able to celebrate them, but to have heroes to celebrate them with. Thank you for your service, and thank you for helping us reach these milestones.

Hi Pamela, I’m sorry to hear about your situation! Some of our real estate professionals might be aware of rentals, although our program is focused on buying, selling, or refinancing homes. If you’d like, you can certainly register here to see if one of our affiliates knows if anything is available in your area.
