In early October 2018, the Homes for Heroes Foundation donated a $5,000 grant to the Denver Firefighters Relief Fund. Homes for Heroes mortgage specialist, Jamie Harrington, along with real estate specialists, Chris Gettys and Sherry Gorman presented the $5,000 check to the Denver Firefighters Relief Fund who gave the grant to the Josey family to assist with the costs of managing their son Quinton’s cerebral palsy.
Hero Family Faces Challenges
Brandon and Amanda Josey are the parents of two boys, Zach and Quinton. Brandon Josey works with the Denver Fire Department, and Amanda Josey works in landscaping. When Quinton was 3 months old, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He’s an active little man who will turn two years old in early 2019. Quinton is making good strides. He has physical therapy every day and it has helped him with sitting up, making use of this arms, and using sign language to communicate. But, Quinton and his family continue to face ongoing challenges.
How $5,000 Grant Will Help
The $5,000 grant from the Homes for Heroes Foundation will help. It will be put toward a forward-facing car seat and a special mat Quinton can use for his physical therapy. Quinton does a minimum of 4 hours of physical therapy a day, and this new equipment will allow Quinton to do his therapy at home instead of at the doctor’s office. Up until now, all of his therapy was done at the doctor’s office. Relief from many, many back and forth trips.
Denver Firefighters Relief Fund
The Denver Firefighters Relief Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in response to families of Denver Firefighters who wish to have a support group in times of need and to work toward strengthening the bond among the firefighter family community. It’s mission is to financially assist firefighters that are injured while performing their duties and to insure that no firefighter would become financially destitute through no fault of their own.
Assistance Provided to Firefighters and Their Families
The Denver Firefighters Relief Fund is in place to assist with critical health related hardships, and can provide relief toward mortgage payments, rent, medical bills, utilities, food, funeral expenses, counseling or any reasonable need presented to the organization in support of firefighters. The state association also allows for funds to be used for firefighter scholarships.
In conjunction with the Denver Firefighters Protective Association, the Denver Firefighters Relief Fund has awarded over $100,000 to Denver firefighters and their families.
Homes for Heroes, Inc. and the Homes for Heroes Foundation, along with our mortgage specialist, Jamie Harrington, and real estate specialists, Chris Gettys and Sherry Gorman, are honored to have worked with the Denver Firefighters Relief Fund to assist Brandon Josey, his family and especially his son Quinton with some of the challenges they face every day.
