On July 11th, 2019, the Chicago Association of Realtors (CAR) held their annual Golf Classic to raise money for the Homes for Heroes Foundation. 2019 marked the 112th year of the annual CAR Golf Classic. The event brought in over 144 members. The members helped raise $7,222 for the Homes for Heroes Foundation.
Leading up to the Event
Chair of the Golf Committee, Michael Emory, explains the selection process for the event’s beneficiary. “We work with local partners to coordinate several charity events throughout the year to support the community. The Golf Classic happens to be our largest one. The members of the advisory committee all get to put a name forward. Then the advisory committee puts the beneficiary of the Golf Classic to a vote. This year, we selected the Homes for Heroes Foundation to be the beneficiary of the Chicago Association of Realtors Golf Classic.”
CAR and Golf Classic Raises $7,222
The event took place at Harborside International Golf Center on the Southside of Chicago. Attendees of CAR’s Golf Classic were treated to an amazing sunny day. The temperatures were in the low 80’s and the greens and fairways were perfectly cut. Sponsors donated prizes to the Classic as part of the silent auction, including Chicago Cubs tickets, weekend get-aways, and an official Chicago Blackhawks jersey signed by NHL All-Star, Patrick Kane. As attendees made their way through 18 holes of golf, they purchased raffle and lottery tickets to help raise money for the Foundation.
Together, the attendees and sponsors of the Golf Classic raised $3,611. The Chicago Association of Realtors then matched that amount to make a total donation of $7,222 to the Homes for Heroes Foundation. The Foundation is extremely grateful for the efforts of CAR and all attendees of their 2019 Golf Classic. The Homes for Heroes Foundation will award these funds to local nonprofit charities as Hero Grants to support heroes in dire need of housing or emergency financial assistance.
