When you chose to take on a challenging career in healthcare, one of the things that probably didn’t factor into your decision was the praise you would get. You just wanted to be there for people, help make people healthy, and have them live their best lives. But there are several people who think that healthcare workers deserve a giant thank you. For all that healthcare workers have done for their communities, especially recently, we want to give thanks for you!
Almost no one in healthcare could have predicted that they’d be in the midst of a global pandemic at some point in their career. But even as what was asked of you continued to increase and take a toll, our healthcare professionals in the U.S. and around the world were unwavering. Every day there were new patients, new guidelines, and new fears. Healthcare heroes were exhausted. But you still came to work, you still took care of your patients, and you still tried to stay positive. For this, we say thank you and are forever grateful for you.
Even before global a health crisis, the healthcare professionals in the United States deserve to be thanked every day. While we have holidays like National Physicians Week and Nurses Week, we need to thank healthcare workers year-round. For some patients, the healthcare workers they get to see every day out of necessity are like an extension of their families. Residents in long-term care facilities would not have the quality of life that they do without their doctors and nurses. Patients battling cancer would feel so alone without their oncologist and oncology nurses.
